"You have the pistol to my forehead, you have the control here."

"I do. So I'm going to ask you again, why do you look like me?"

"Put the gun down and we can talk about it. Ok, ok, easy. Easy. I don't know what happened. I don't know why I look like you and you look like me."

"That's not a good enough answer."

"Please, please! I didn't do anything! I woke up like – looking like you."

"No. You don't look like me. You are I and I'm you. Our bodies anyway. Certainly not intellectually or mentally, but physically, yes. Get up."

"What are you going to do to me?"

"I'm going to get my body back. But I have some questions first, about this … world you live in. Sit. What year is it?"

"Two thousand and twelve."

"What place is this?"

"Nanaimo. That's in Canada."

"Canada? It was annexed by the United States of America … but no, perhaps not yet. Tell me, do you know who I am?"

"Yes. I don't know why you're here or how. But I know you."

"Go on then, enlighten me."

"You're the Courier. I've playe – watched you travel the wastes of Nevada. You were shot in the head, there, I can see the scar and you sought out the man responsible. You found your way to New Vegas, Las Vegas as we, here, know it. You shot him in the forehead and took what he stole, the Chip."

"I'm putting this down, make any sudden movements and you'll join Benny in the ground. So, how is it you know so much about me and I nothing of you?"

"I—I don't know."

"I'm gifted with a high intelligence and a knack for knowing when someone is lying. Tell me the truth. I awoke this morning in a bed I have only ever seen in pre-war magazines. I walked out into sunlight and houses and plants. Even now, I'm sitting on a couch, in a room, completely untouched by nuclear war. So, tell me, how do I know nothing of you and this world?"

"Ok. Ok. Woah, woah! I'm just going to get something. Relax! I don't have any weapons! Here, I'll walk slowly. Okay. I'm just going to bend down and, ok, here, look at this."

"What the hell is this? Some kind of reprogramming device?"

"What? No, no! It's a game! See, this disc goes in that there and it plays it on the screen."

"Do you have the Chip?"

"The Platinum Chip! Where is it?"

"Oh. Uh, I dunno, damn how do you use this Pip-Boy? Uh. No. That was wrong. God, there are so many pockets in this outfit. Hey! What are you doing?"

"Getting the chip you useless lump. Hmm. Perhaps. Yes, that might have been it."

"The Chip. I installed in House's machine before I blacked out. That's the last I saw of Nevada."

"So you think that the Chip had something to do with this?"

"What are we going to do?"

"We? We are going to do nothing. I am going to figure this out. You are going to sit and watch silently."

"Fine. But hurry up. It's almost midnight."
My entry for the Freaky Friday contest =)

I've never entered a contest on Deviantart before, so it feels good to do it for the first time.

For this contest, I decided to choose a rather difficult character to "switch" bodies with, that being the courier from Fallout New Vegas, released a few years ago by Bethesda. It's one of my favourite games and I figured it would be a fun challenge to incorporate in a story.

I also decided to take the challenge a step further and include only dialogue, something I had to do in one of my university writing courses.

Anyway, I hope you enjoy :)

Very interesting. I will have to try writing dialogue only one day. Seems like it would be quite challenging!

it's a challenge certainly, just keep in mind when writing only dialogue what the characters would be doing while they talk. I try and imagine the two talking and their reactions to one another, from movements to facial expressions and so on =)

I like it ^^ I've never played Fallout, but that wasn't a problem at all in your story :)
Great job!

Thank you!

Gaaaw, Fallout is amazing! Though hard to get used to the controls .... :P

Interesting how you used only dialogue. I was still able to imagine two distinct figures in my head and their actions as the story progressed. So, very stylish.
